What is FCRA Compliance?
Why is it an important part of choosing a screening vendor?

Choosing an expert in the industry can help you and your team build the knowledge needed to follow the appropriate guidelines. The most important piece of background screening compliance for employers is to know and understand the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The FCRA applies anytime an employer utilizes a consumer reporting agency, such as InCheck, to obtain a background check for employment (or volunteer) purposes and exists to protect consumers. The FCRA gives consumers:

  • The right to give consent for background checks to be provided to employers

  • The right to be told if information obtained via a background check is being used to deny an application for employment (or a volunteer position)The right to request a copy of this information

  • The right to dispute incomplete or inaccurate information contained in a background check
